Google has explained that this is all by design. Xiaomi, for example, offers 65W fast charging, in some of its devices. This is very slow in the fast charging era. The result is that, while the phones can charge up to 50% in just half an hour as advertised, a full charge takes up to a couple of hours. In reality, testing by Android Authority found that the maximum power obtained by the devices was actually 22W, with an average of just 13W over a full charging cycle. This brings the expectation that the phones will charge at 30W.
